Flokktavla

The family's week, on one board.

Flokktavla is a family organiser I am building for Norwegian families. It puts a shared calendar, chores with points and rewards, a shopping list and a wall display for the kitchen into one web app (PWA). Parents plan from their phones, and children tick things off on the screen on the wall.

It is the first Xnett project aimed at people who never open a terminal, so it looks nothing like the rest of this site.

# why

Family planning tends to be spread over a calendar app, a whiteboard, chat threads and someone's memory. Most tools that solve this also end up holding a detailed log of a family's life on someone else's server.

Flokktavla's design goal is end-to-end encryption of family content. Calendar entries, chores and lists are encrypted on the family's own devices, and the server stores data it cannot read. The design is documented but not implemented yet, and it will get an independent security review before the service holds real family data.

# what exists today

  • A documented architecture, threat model, privacy design and key-management design.
  • An interactive design preview with a fictional family: the parents' app (today view, calendar by day, week, month and agenda, chores with points and rewards, shopping list) and the wall display with a night mode. It runs only in the browser, with no accounts, no saved data and no encryption.
  • Server-side groundwork, in progress and not deployed: accounts, family spaces, storage for encrypted data, invitations and wall-display pairing, covered by automated tests. The design preview does not use it.
